The Indian Society for Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPT) embarked on its journey in 2008 under the visionary leadership of Late Prof. KK Sharma, Dr. Harmeet Singh Rehan, Dr. CD Tripathy and other senior Professors of Pharmacology. Founded with a mission to promote rational therapeutics among prescribers, ISRPT aims to make treatments safer and more affordable for the community.

ISRPT is a non-profit scientific society registered under the Society's Registration Act of India. Our membership primarily comprises medical pharmacologists dedicated to advancing rational pharmacotherapy across the country. With a pan-India representation, ISRPT has a robust presence nationwide, conducting national-level conferences and workshops to foster knowledge and best practices in pharmacotherapy. ISRPT promotes technology & innovation in healthcare and Pharmacology, it promotes generic prescribing and supports every effort to provide affordable treatment for all.

ISRPT believes access to medicine can be improved globally through rational therapeutics and advocates for the rational use of medicines by healthcare providers, emphasizing the importance of safe, effective, and affordable treatments for the community. ISRPT, through its highly skilled membership network, promotes drug repurposing through academic clinical trials. In our commitment to improving capacity building in clinical research, over the past several years, ISRPT has organized multiple rounds of satellite workshops on essential topics such as Good Clinical Practice, Basic Biomedical Ethics, and Regulatory Guidelines in India. Through these initiatives, we strive to enhance the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals, ensuring the highest standards of clinical research and patient care.

The society's major focus areas also include promoting rational pharmacotherapeutics, academic and regulatory clinical trials, enhancing medical education in India and providing academic & career support to young medical pharmacologists.
